Senior David Teres (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) continued his strong singles play this season, but The University of Scranton men's tennis team fell to Catholic, 7-2, on Saturday at Royal Courts.

The loss keeps Scranton (5-4, 3-2 Landmark) in third place, and the Royals can finish no better than third. They have a half-game lead and the tie-breaker over Drew and Moravian, who are tied for fourth.

Teres posted a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Catholic freshman Juan Lorido (Miami, Fla.) at No. 1 singles to improve to 7-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.

Scranton also received a doubles victory from the team of freshman Matt Prendergast (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) and junior Ryan Bair (Leola, Pa./Lancaster Catholic). The duo combined for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Prior to the match, the Royals honored their three seniors -- Teres, Brian Williams (Madison, Conn./Madison) and James Dalkiewicz (Shavertown, Pa./Lake-Lehman).

The Royals are back in action on Sunday when they host Merchant Marine Academy in a Landmark Conference match at 1 p.m. at Royal Courts.
