WASHINGTON, DC—Junior attacker Madeline Wilson (Pearl River,
NY/Pearl River) scored four goals and freshman midfielder Clair
Schmitzer (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and freshman attacker Jenna Vann
Middelem (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai) chipped in three apiece to
lead Catholic University to an 18-6 victory over The University of
Scranton in Landmark Conference women’s lacrosse action
Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals, now 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference, out-shot
the Royals 25-8 in the first half in building up an insurmountable
11-4 halftime lead. For the game, Catholic held a 49-21
advantage in shots.
Scranton, which fell to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the Landmark, was
led by junior midfielder Emily
Goss (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) with three goals,
sophomore midfielder Erin
Allen (Syosset, NY/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) added a
pair, and senior attacker Erin
Green (Merrick, NY/Sandford Calhoun) finished with
one.
Junior goalkeeper Emily
Towey (Abington, Pa./Abington) made 21 saves in goal
for the Royals, which is the tied for the fourth most in a game in
Scranton history.
The Royals will return to action this Tuesday, April 8, against
Ursinus College beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
