SCRANTON, Pa.—There's no quit in University of Scranton senior women's tennis player Devon Cohen (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham).

This afternoon, she provided the inspiration the Royals so sorely needed to pull out a 5-4 victory over Moravian College in the battle for first place in the Landmark Conference Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Courts.

After losing the first set and trailing 5-0 in the second to Lady Greyhound freshman Brittney Eady (Jamaica, NY/Excelsior Preparatory), Cohen battled back to win seven straight games to win the second set, then closed out the number two singles with a 6-3 win in the third set.  In the dramatic second set, she survived five match points.

The win was the second straight for the Royals, now 7-6 overall and 4-0 in the Landmark Conference, while Moravian had six-match winning streak snapped and fell to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Cohen has now won six straight singles matches to improve to 7-5 overall and 28-29 in her career.

Cohen was one of four Royals to post a win in singles after Scranton fell behind 2-1 after doubles.  Joining Cohen with a win in singles were sophomore Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory), who downed Erica Venuti, 6-0, 6-1, at four, junior Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity), who stopped Selina Ocasio, 6-2, 6-2, at five, and junior Lisa-Marie Lanciotti (Northport, NY/Kings Park), who turned back Courtnie Lambert, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, at six.

In doubles, Lanciotti and junior Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) defeated Julia Atiyeh and Ocasio, 8-2, to pick up a key point.
