HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 9-0 loss to Georgetown (Ky.) on Sunday afternoon at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort.

The Royals (3-1) lost a pair of close doubles matches as the teams of senior Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) and freshman Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown), and senior Lisa-Marie Lanciotti (Northport, N.Y./Kings Park) and junior Courtney Barron (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) both lost by the score of 8-6.

In singles action, senior Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) lost a hard-fought match at no. 2 singles, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.

Scranton is back in action on Monday when the Royals take on Ramapo at 8 a.m. at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort.
