EDITOR'S NOTE: Updates with Royals clinching a playoff berth.

MADISON, N.J. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team won its fifth straight match and clinched a playoff berth with a 9-0 win over Drew University on Sunday afternoon to stay undefeated in Landmark Conference play.

All five wins in the streak have come in conference play as the Royals (9-2, 5-0 Landmark) remained in first place.

Five Royals finished Sunday with both singles and doubles victories. Junior Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and freshman Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) combined for an 8-1 victory at no. 1 doubles. Walsh then posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at no. 1 singles while Frattaroli earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 4.

Seniors Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) and Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) rolled to an 8-2 win at no. 2 doubles. Azzalina earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at no. 2 singles while Mahaffey was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at no. 3.

Senior Lisa-Marie Lanciotti (Northport, N.Y./Kings Park) and sophomore Emily Machado (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) picked up an 8-2 victory at no. 3 doubles. Lanciotti then posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at no. 5 singles.

Sophomore Courtney Barron (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) gave Scranton the sweep by rallying for a 1-6, 6-0, 1-0 (12-10) victory at no. 6 singles.

Scranton will be back in action when it hosts second-place Elizabethtown on Friday, April 17, at 2:30 p.m. at Royal Courts.
