ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Freshman midfielder Erin Pfail (Garden City, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) kept The University of Scranton women’s lacrosse team’s hopes alive for a home game in the upcoming Landmark Conference tournament Saturday.
She scored a season-high five goals and handed out two assists as the Royals built up a 15-5 halftime lead en route to a 19-7 victory over Elizabethtown College.
Scranton, now 6-7 overall and 4-1 in the conference, also received four goals from freshman midfielder Lindsey Tattory (Robbinsville, NJ/Notre Dame), three goals and two assists from senior midfielder Emily Goss (Morristown, NJ/Morristown), two goals and two assists from sophomore midfielder Meghan Kerr (Warwick, NY/John S. Burke Catholic), and two goals and an assist from junior midfielder Erin Allen (Syosset, NY/Our Lady of Mercy Academy).
Sophomore midfielder Addie Stang (Dover, Del./Polytech), freshman attacker Cierra Eckenrode (York, Pa./York Suburban), and junior attacker Mary Nell Donahue (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph) scored two goals apiece for the Blue Jays, now 4-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
Scrantonalso received a goal and two assists from freshman Dana Siepietowski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) and a goal apiece from freshman midfielderKailyn Angelo (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and sophomore midfielder Nikole Sullivan (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee).
The Royals held a commanding 29-15 advantage in shots, a 22-15 margin in ground balls, and won 18 of the 28 draws that were contested.
Scranton will return to action this Wednesday, April 22, against Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Royals are now alone in second place in the Landmark Conference, one game behind Catholic University, who they will host in their regular-season finale next Saturday, April 25, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
