The University of Scranton men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Goucher in a Landmark Conference match on Sunday at Royal Courts.

The Royals (4-9, 3-4 Landmark) are still in contention for a playoff spot with one match conference match remaining – at Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, April 25, at noon. The Royals need a win in that match and help in other matches to have a chance.

Scranton's only win on Sunday came from sophomore Matt Prendergast (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive), who pulled out a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 1-0 (14-12) win at no. 2 singles. It was his sixth singles victory of the season and 11th of his career.

Prior to the match, the Royals honored seniors Ryan Bair (Leola, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) and Kevin Prendergast (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) for their dedication to the program.

Scranton returns to action on Wednesday, April 22, when the Royals visit Wilkes for a non-conference match at 5:30 p.m.
