ONEONTA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team continued its strong fall season by posting a 5-2 victory at Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals improved to 4-0 by sweeping the three doubles matches and taking two singles matches to earn the needed five points for the victory before the match was halted.

Senior Courtney Barron (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and sophomore Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) each posted singles and doubles victories in the match. Barron teamed with freshman Elyse Smilnak (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) for an 8-6 win at no. 3 doubles, then earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at no. 5 singles.

Frattaroli paired with senior Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) for a 9-7 win at no. 1 doubles, and then earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at no. 2 singles.

Scranton also received a 9-8 (7-2) win at no. 2 doubles from the duo of junior Emily Machado (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) and sophomore Anika Pornpitaksuk (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis).

The Royals are back in action on Sunday when they host Lebanon Valley at 1 p.m. at Royal Courts.
