EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to host Wilkes on Sunday in the second to last match of the Fall portion of their 2016 schedule.

With the loss, the Royals fell to 2-1 overall on the year.

In doubles, Scranton was only able to take one match, falling behind, 2-1, entering singles. The lone win for Scranton came in the number three spot on the lineup, as sophomore's Charles Swope (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) collected an 8-2 victory.

Wilkes continued to control the match in singles to win it, taking four of the six matches contested.

The Royals, however, recorded victories at number two and number five in the lineup. At number two, junior Keller McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) took a hard fought three-set win (6-4, 5-7, 10-6), while Harkins became a two-time winner on the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number five.

The University of Scranton men's tennis team will wrap up the Fall portion of their schedule on Wednesday when they host Ramapo at Royal Courts. Action gets underway at 4 p.m.
