BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior midfielder Erin Allen (Syosset, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) scored a career-high six goals and junior midfielder Meghan Kerr (Warwick, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) added five goals to lead The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team to an 18-7 win over Moravian on Saturday at Rocco Calvo Field.
The Royals (3-3) overcame an early two-goal deficit by finishing the first half on an impressive 15-1 run over a little more than 25 minutes. Allen scored three times and had an assist, and Kerr scored all five of her goals in the game-defining run.
Scranton also got two goals and an assist from freshman midfielder Christine Olert (Katonah, N.Y./Somers) and two goals from freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Murphy (Somers, N.Y./North Salem). Sophomore midfielders Kailyn Angelo (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Dana Siepietowski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) and freshman attacker Katie Rogers (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's) each had a goal while sophomore attacker Colleen O'Rourke (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) had a pair of assists.
Junior goalkeeper Marne Rossetti (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) with six saves and Allen led the team with two caused turnovers while Olert had five draw controls.
Scranton forced 15 turnovers by Moravian (1-4) and had a 19-8 edge in draw controls. The Royals also had a 37-14 lead in shots and were successful on 14 of 15 clear attempts.
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, March 23, when they travel to Arlington, Va. to take on Marymount at 4 p.m.
