Royals Fall in Final Spring Break Match to Augustana

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team finished off their Spring Break trip in Florida on Wednesday morning and the Royals dropped a 7-2 decision to NCAA Division II member Augustana

With the loss, Scranton fell to 0-6 on the year.

In doubles action, Scranton was able to collect a victory at number three, as the team of freshman Christian Aksu (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) and sophomore Emmett Ryan (Manchester, Mass./Canterbury School) collected an 8-5 victory to give the Royals their first point in the match.

In singles, sophomore Keller McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) put up a fight at number one, falling on a tie-break 6-0, 7-6 (7-5). However, freshman Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) was able to win his match at number five, taking a 6-2, 6-3 win to give Scranton their second point.

The Royals will now take a week off, returning to the court on Wednesday, March 30 when they travel to Misericorida for a non-confernece match-up. Things get underway at 3:30 p.m.
