Royals End Spring Break Trip with Hard-Fought Loss to Nationally-Ranked Hamilton

Results

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Scranton women's tennis team ended their Spring Break trip in Florida on Wednesday morning, and put up a valiant effort against 40th-ranked Hamilton before dropping a 7-2 decision.

In the defeat, Scranton got things off to a great start in doubles action, as the tandem of senior Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and junior Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) took a thrilling 9-8 (7-4) decision on a tiebreaker.

After Scranton dropped the other two doubles matches, Frattaroli came back at number two singles and picked up another win on a tiebreak, posting a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 win in come-from-behind fashion. But, that was the only victory the Royals picked up in singles action.

Scranton will now take a week off before opening Landmark Conference play on Wednesday, March 30 at Susquehanna. Action gets underway at 3:30 p.m.
