Junior midfielder Meghan Kerr (Warwick, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) and sophomore midfielder Kailyn Angelo (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) combined for seven goals, and junior goalkeeper Marne Rossetti (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made 10 saves as The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team knocked off Farmingdale State, 16-8, on Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.

Kerr finished the afternoon with four goals and three assists, Angelo had three goals and freshman attacker Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and senior midfielder Erin Allen (Syossett, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) each had two goals and an assist in the victory.

Kerr and Gallo combined for four goals in a 5-0 run midway through the first half that turned a 2-1 lead into a 7-1 edge. Scranton (2-2) finished the half on a 3-0 run to take a 9-5 lead into halftime, then scored four of the first five goals of the second half to put the game away.

Rosetti made six of her season-high 10 saves in the second half as the Royals held Farmingdale State (0-1) to just three second-half goals.

Freshman midfielder Christine Olert (Katonah, N.Y./Somers) had a goal and two assists, freshman attacker Katie Rogers (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's) had a goal and an assist, and senior midfielder Fiona Keelan (New Rochelle, N.Y./Mamaroneck), sophomore midfielder Dana Siepietowski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) and freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Murphy (Somers, N.Y./North Salem) each had a goal.

The Royals dominated draw controls, 18-8, behind six from Angelo and four by sophomore defender Rachel Strock (Holliston, Mass./Holliston). Keelan led the team with four ground balls while Siepietowski had three.

The Royals held a 37-20 edge in shots, forced 21 turnovers and were successful on 18 of 21 clear attempts.

Scranton will be back in action on Wednesday, March 9, when they travel to Galloway, N.J. to take on Stockton at 4 p.m.
