SCRANTON, Pa. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team had a six-match winning streak halted on Sunday, as Juniata narrowly knocked off the Royals, 5-4, in Landmark Conference action at Royal Courts.

With the defeat, Scranton dropped to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the Landmark.

In doubles play, Juniata was able to collect victories at number one and number three in the line-up to take a 2-1 lead into singles.

Scranton's lone point in doubles was notched at number two by juniors Matt Prendergast (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) and Michael Pottieger (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) who won their eighth match in a row overall, 8-3.

In singles, Juniata and Scranton spilt six matches, giving the visiting Eagles a narrow one point win in the process.

The Royals' victories in the singles line-up came at numbers two, five and six in the lineup.

At number two, sophomore Keller McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) was a winner, taking a 6-2, 6-2 victory, while freshman Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) (6-4, 6-4) and Charles Swope (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) (6-3, 6-2) kept their winning ways going with victories at the fifth and sixth spots in the line-up, respectively.

For Harkins, it was his eighth straight win overall, while Swope won his 10th straight match.

The University of Scranton men's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, hosting King's in a non-conference match at Royal Courts. Action gets underway at 3:30 p.m.
