TOWSON, Md. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team saw their 2015-16 season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, as the fourth-seeded Royals dropped a 5-0 decision at top-seeded Goucher in the Semifinals of the 2016 Landmark Conference Playoffs.
With the defeat, Scranton ends the campaign with an 8-10.
In doubles play on Wednesday, Goucher got off to a quick start with three victories, including an 8-6 win in the number three spot that gave the Gophers a three-point lead into singles.
Needling only two points to take the match, Goucher won at number two and three singles to finish off the match.
Despite suffering the setback today, it was still a successful Spring for the Royals men's tennis team, as they earned a spot into the Landmark Conference Playoffs for the first time in two seasons, taking eight victories. The Royals also rattled off a six-match winning streak in April, as well.
