GENEVA, N.Y. - Several members of the University of Scranton women's tennis team took part in the 2016 USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships this weekend, which was hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
In singles play, senior Emily Machado (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) and junior Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) took part, with Frattaroli winning a match in the consolation bracket first round, 8-6. She then dropped her match in the second round by the same 8-6 score.
In doubles, the tandem of Frattaroli and freshman Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) advanced all the way to the semifinals of the consolation bracket before falling, 8-2, to a team from Hamilton College.
The Royals completed their Fall season earlier this week and posted a 2-2 record. The team will be back on the court in March to kick-off their Spring season.
