ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team opened the Spring portion of their 2017 schedule on Saturday afternoon in Orlando, Florida, and the Royals dropped a 9-0 decision to Wisconsin-La Crosse.
With the defeat, Scranton dropped to 2-3 overall on the year.
In the defeat, the Royals dropped all three doubles matches, then fell in all six singles matches contested on the day in straight sets.
In singles, senior Matt Prendergast (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) dropped a hard-fought match at number three (4-6, 6-7 (6-8), while sophomore Charles Swope (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) put up a fight at number six (6-7 (3-7), 1-6).
The University of Scranton men's tennis team will return to action on Sunday, taking on Hobart to continue their Spring Break trip in Orlando. Action gets underway at 3 p.m.
