Four players earned victories in both singles and doubles as The University of Scranton women's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over Lycoming on Tuesday afternoon at Royal Courts.
Senior Julia Frattaroli (Newtown, Conn./Newtown), junior Emilia Jakubek (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep) and sophomores Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) and Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) each posted a pair of victories as the Royals (2-0) posted their second sweep in as many matches.
Frattaroli teamed with DeNunzio for an 8-4 win at no. 1 doubles, then went out and earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at no. 1 singles. DeNunzio made even quicker work of her singles opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0 at no. 2.
Jakubek teamed with Kelly for an 8-2 win at no. 2 doubles, then cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at no. 3 singles. Kelly matched DeNunzio by not dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at no. 4 singles.
Freshman Nicole Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) and senior Katherine Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Central Catholic) posted an 8-2 win at no. 3 doubles. Sophomore Sakira Fussner (Kempton, Pa./Kutztown) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at no. 5 singles, as was freshman Lindsey Roberto (Princeton, N.J./Notre Dame) at no. 6.
The Royals will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 15, when they travel to Annville, Pa. to take on Lebanon Valley at 4 p.m.
