Four Royals Compete in ITA Women's Tennis Regional Championships

GENEVA, N.Y. – Four members of The University of Scranton women's tennis team competed in the ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, representing the Royals against the competition in the region.

On Saturday's opening round, the Royals were defeated in two singles matches and also dropped a pair of doubles contests.

In singles play on Saturday, Katrine Luddy of TCNJ rallied for a narrow, 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 decision over Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) while Emilia Jakubek (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep) was topped by Rochester's Abbey Reinhart, 6-2, 6-3.

In Saturday's doubles action, Jakubek and Tatiana Klacko (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) came up just short in an 8-5 loss to Hamilton's Becca Ingber and Ajla Karabegovic while Sophia Aulicino and Audrey Chor, also from Hamilton, defeated DeNunzio and Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock Mennonite), 8-0.

The four players all competed in consolation matches on Sunday, though no official scores were kept for the contests.

Scranton's full team will return to action on Tuesday as Lebanon Valley visit the Royal Courts for a non-conference match starting at 3:30 p.m.
