Women's Tennis Falls to Dickinson in Spring Break Finale, 7-2

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Dickinson on Thursday evening as the Royals closed out their spring break trip in Florida.

The Red Devils won two of three doubles matches on Thursday before claiming five of the six singles contests to level their record at 3-3.  The Royals will bring a 4-5 overall record back to Scranton as they now get set to face Landmark Conference competition and look to defend their conference title from last spring.

Scranton picked up a point in doubles play against Dickinson as senior Elyse Smilnak (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and freshman Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) teamed up for an 8-4 victory at no. 3 doubles.

Sophomore Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) was Scranton's lone winner in singles competition, earning a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 victory at the no. 4 singles flight.

The Royals will open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, March 30 at Catholic. First serves of the rematch of last spring's Landmark Conference championship match are set for 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
