MADISON, N.J. - Senior Emilia Jakubek (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep) and freshman Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Prep) were winners in doubles and singles action to lead The University of Scranton women's tennis team to a 7-2 victory at Drew on Wednesday in Landmark Conference action.

With the victory, the Royals moved to 9-5 overall and remained unbeaten in Landmark Conference play, moving to 5-0 overall. Drew fell to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the Landmark with the defeat.

On the day, Scranton got the ball rolling in the right direction in doubles action, as they captured all three matches contested to take a 3-0 lead into singles.

In the first doubles flight, the tandem of sophomore Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) and junior Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) coasted to an 8-0 win, while at number two, Jakubek and junior Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) pulled out an 8-4 victory.

The doubles sweep for Scranton was completed by Loughlin and senior Elyse Smilnak (Holidaysburg, Pa./Holidaysburg), who posted an 8-1 victory to put the Royals up, 3-0, on Drew entering singles.

Needing just two wins in singles to clinch, Scranton did just that and then some, as the Royals captured four singles contests to take the match by five points.

First, in the second singles flight, Jakubek rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win, while sophomore Lindsay Roberto (Princeton, N.J./Notre Dame) clinched the W for the Royals with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at number four. Sophomore Kristen Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) was also a winner in singles, taking a three-set triumph at number five (3-6, 6-1, 6-3), while Loughlin became a two-time winner on the day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number six singles.
