SCRANTON, Pa. - The University of Scranton men's tennis senior class of Alexander Ochalski (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central), Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield), and Charles Swope (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) were all two-time winners on the day, as the Royals blanked visiting Moravian, 9-0, on Senior Day in Landmark Conference action Saturday.

With the win, the Royals improved to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in the Landmark Conference, while Moravian fell to 10-7 and 2-4 in the Landmark with the loss.

The shutout began in earnest in doubles, where the Royals won all three matches contested to go up, 3-0, entering singles.

At the number one position, Ochalski and sophomore Tarquin McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) rolled to an 8-4 win, as did graduate student Christian Aksu (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) and Harkins at number two, who collected an 8-2 victory. In the third doubles spot, Swope and freshman Christopher Kocon (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) finished the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win.

It was more of the same in singles action, with the Royals taking all six matches contested, all in straight sets.

McGurrin (7-6 (7-4), 6-4 at number one), Ochalski (6-0, 6-0 at number two), Swope (6-1, 6-2 at number three), Harkins (6-0, 6-1 at number four) and Aksu (6-0, 6-0 at number five) all became two-time winners on the day with straight set victories in singles. Rounding out the sweep for Scranton was freshman Daniel Scala (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley), who grabbed a 6-3, 6-2 win in the sixth singles flight.

The University of Scranton men's' tennis team returns to action on Sunday, as they travel to Elizabethtown for their last Landmark Conference regular season match of the year. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
