LANCASTER, Pa. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team finished off a dominating weekend in Landmark Conference play on Sunday, as the Royals rolled past host Elizabethtown, 8-1, in a match played indoors at the Racquet Club West.

With the win, Scranton moved to 9-6 overall and finish the Landmark Conference regular season with a 5-2 record. With the victory at E-Town, the Royals clinched a spot in the upcoming Landmark Conference Playoffs, which will begin on April 30 with semifinal action. This marks the fourth straight season that Scranton will play in the Landmark playoffs, as well.

On the day Sunday against E-Town, the Royals once again swept doubles action to get off to a fast start and a 3-0 lead.

In the first doubles flight, the tandem of sophomore Tarquin McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) and senior Alexander Ochalski (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) posted an 8-2 win, while at number two, graduate student Christian Aksu (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) and senior Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) posted a shutout 8-0 victory.

Finally, at number three, senior Charles Swope (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and freshman Christopher Kocon (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) also had an 8-0 win to complete the sweep for Scranton.

It was more of the same for Scranton in singles play, as the Royals won five of the six matches contested to clinch the win.

In the top four spots of the singles line-up, four Royals players became two-time winners on the day, as McGurrin (6-2, 6-0 at number one), Ochalski (6-0, 6-0 at number two), Swope (6-2, 6-0 at number three) and Harkins (6-2, 6-0 at number four) all won their singles matches. Also, with Harkins' singles win, he has now tied for third all-time in program history in singles victories with 54, as he's already captured 16 singles contests on the year, tying for the second most ever in a season all-time.

The last win of the day was recorded by freshman Daniel Scala (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) at number five, where he captured a three-set victory 6-3, 1-6, 11-9.

The University of Scranton men's tennis team returns to action on April 24, as they host Oneonta St. at Royal Courts. Action gets underway at 4 p.m.
