LANCASTER, Pa. - After suffering a tough loss to Moravian on Saturday, The University of Scranton women's tennis team bounced back at Elizabethtown on Sunday, collecting a 7-2 win on the road in their final Landmark Conference match of the regular season.

With the win, Scranton improved to 10-6 overall and finish the Landmark Conference year at 6-1 overall. But, most importantly, Scranton clinched a home Landmark Semifinal match with their victory, which will take place at Royal Courts on May 1.

In doubles, Scranton dropped the match in the first flight but fought back to take a 2-1 lead into singles after taking victories at number two and three.

In the second spot, senior Emilia Jakubek (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep) and junior Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) were 8-5 winners, while in the number three spot, senior Elyse Smilnak (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and freshman Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Prep) also captured an 8-5 victory to put Scranton up, 2-1.

Scranton, however, took control of the match in singles play, as they won five of the six matches contested to coast to a five-point win on the road.

Jakubek (6-1, 6-2 at number two) and Kelly (6-2, 6-2 at number four) became two-time winners on the day with their respective singles victories, while at number one, junior Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) was a 6-3, 6-2 winner to clinch the victory for Scranton.

Rounding out the victories on the day for Scranton was freshman Kristen Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack), who was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at number five, and sophomore Lindsay Roberto (Princeton, N.J./Notre Dame), who took a 7-5, 6-2 decision at number six singles.

The University of Scranton women's tennis team has no scheduled matches until the Landmark Conference Semifinals on May 1 at home. Fans are reminded to follow the Royals on Twitter @RoyalAthletics for information as information on women's tennis matches becomes available.
