Women's Tennis Tops Lebanon Valley, 6-3

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (1-0) won four of the six singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen (0-2) on Sunday afternoon at Shankroff Tennis Center in Annville.

Scranton grabbed an early lead with a pair of doubles victories at the No.1 and No. 2 flights. The duo of senior Nastashia DeNunzio (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore)/junior Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) were 8-6 winners for the Royals in No. 1 doubles action and junior Tatiana Klacko (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep)/freshman Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazelton Area) captured an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

In No. 1 singles, DeNunzio recorded a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Lebanon Valley's Melanie Haas and other singles winners for the Royals included Nowak, sophomore Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) and junior Lindsay Roberto (Princeton, N.J.).

Nowak earned a straight set (6-2, 6-2) win over Madison Poladian at No. 3 singles for the Royals and Loughlin followed suit with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in No. 4 singles action. Roberto topped LVC's Zoe Birch 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Scranton returns to the courts on Thursday, Sept. 19 when they host SUNY Oneonta at 4 p.m.
