Men's Tennis Falls to Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team (0-1) dropped an 8-1 decision at the hands of Lebanon Valley (1-1) on Wednesday at Shankroff Tennis Center in Annville.

Lebanon Valley grabbed an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. The duo of junior Tarquin McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) and freshman Patrick O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) dropped an 8-6 heartbreaker to LVC's Blake Martin and Justin Schuetz.

McGurrin-the reigning Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week-won the lone singles match for the Royals as he recorded a straight set (6-3, 6-4) victory over Schuetz in No. 1 singles action. O'Mara dropped a 6-7, 7-6, 10-5 decision to Reed Morris at No. 4 singles and sophomore Sal Sullivan (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) fell in a tough 7-5, 7-5 loss to Ben Hinkley at No. 5 singles.

The Royals return to the courts with a dual match at Ramapo on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m.
