ALLENTOWN - The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team held a two-goal lead entering the fourth quarter, but host Muhlenberg rallied in the fourth quarter to take a 16-13 win over the Royals on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Scranton dropped to 1-2 overall for the year, while Muhlenberg improved to 2-0 with the come-from-behind win.

The first half saw plenty of scoring between the Royals and Mules, as Muhlenberg held a 4-2 lead entering the second quarter. There, Scranton scored five goals (while Muhlenberg scored four), as Muhlenberg took a slim 8-7 lead into intermission.

Out of the break, Scranton quickly tied the game up at 8-8, only to see Muhlenberg tally back-to-back goals to go back up, 10-8, on the Royals with 8:56 left in the quarter.

The rest of the frame, however, would see Scranton go on a scoring tear, as the Royals ripped off four unanswered goals to take a 12-10 lead on Muhlenberg with 2:24 to go in the third quarter.

Muhlenberg, however, ended the scoring flurry with a goal very late in the third quarter to cut the Scranton lead in half entering the fourth quarter at 12-11.

To start the fourth, Muhlenberg scored back-to-back goals to take the lead back on the Royals at 13-12 with 11:16 left. That lead held until the three-minute mark, where junior Mike Bouhall (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) scored to knot the contest back up at 13-13 late in regulation.

But, Muhlenberg ended the game on a 3-0 run to take it over the Royals, as the Mules scored back-to-back-to-back goals within 58 seconds of each other at the two-minute mark to take control of the contest and eventually capture the win.

Overall, Bouhall led the offense in the tough defeat, as he scored three goals. Tallying two goals, apiece, for Scranton in the loss were freshman Nicholas Donato (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy), senior Connor Kirkwood (Millburn, N.J./St. Peter's Prep), and junior Jalen Holmes (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), as Kirkwood had three ground ball and a caused turnover, as well.

Rounding out the scoring sheet for Scranton were seniors Alexander Dadourian (Summit, N.J./Summit), Joe Hill (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) and Michael Elefonte (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon), along with sophomore Sean Crotty (Long Beach, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) who all had a goal. Elefonte also had three assists in the defeat, while Hill and Crotty had an assist, apiece.

In the ground ball department, Scranton was once again led by junior Collin Purdy (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) who had eight, while Dadourian had five. In net, junior Shayne Fallon (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) took the tough loss despite making 18 saves.

The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 29 traveling to Montclair St. for the fourth and final game of their beginning of the season road trip. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
