SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (3-1) won five of the six singles matches and cruised to a 7-2 win over the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen (3-2) to close out the fall season in style on Sunday afternoon at the Royal Courts in Scranton.
The Royals grabbed an early edge after doubles play as the duo of graduate student Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) and junior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Julia Nocentino (Mantua, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and sophomore Maddy Tratthen (Olyphant, Pa./Scranton Prep) were 8-6 winners in No. 3 doubles.
Freshman Mayjah Jean-Pierre (Linden, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) continued the impressive start to her Royals career as she improved to 4-1 on the year with an 8-4 win over LVC's Jacquelyn McBride and Nowak notched an 8-5 win over Meredith Haas in second singles action.
Campo rolled to an 8-1 victory over Madison Poladian at No. 3 singles and senior Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) picked up a thrilling 8-6 win against Eliana Shenk in No. 4 singles play. Rounding out the singles winners for the Royals was sophomore Maddy Abood (Plainfield, N.J./Union Catholic) with an 8-2 win over Abbey DeLisio at the sixth singles flight.
