HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Senior Jill Henson (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) once again led The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team, scoring five goals, as the Royals coasted past Juniata, 19-6, on Saturday in Landmark Conference action.

With the win, Scranton finishes their 2021 regular season with a 7-1 record overall and in the Landmark. The victory virtually guaranteed the Royals a home game to begin the Landmark Conference playoffs, as well, which start on Saturday, April 24. Juniata fell to 0-7 with the loss.

Right from the start, Scranton was aggressive on the offensive end, tallying five goals in the first nine minutes of action to take a quick 5-0 lead. The hits kept coming from the Royals offense throughout the half, and the Royals went into the locker room for intermission holding a 10-4 lead over the Eagles.

In the second half, the Royals put Juniata away with a 9-0 scoring run that was not stopped until Juniata scored with 8:56 to go in regulation. By then, it was too little, too late for the Eagles, as Scranton finished off a great regular season with a 13-goal victory (the win was Scranton's fifth by double-figures this season).

Overall, Henson once again led the Royals on the offensive end, scoring five goals, while adding an assist. She has now scored 28 goals in just eight games for Scranton, tallying 43 total points for the season (Henson also has 15 assists).

Elsewhere, two players had hat tricks - freshman Erin Reich (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and senior Raegen Dunn (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) - who scored three goals, apiece. Reich, who finished the regular season with 26 goals, also added two assists on the afternoon.

Juniors Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) and Jaclyn McCusker (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) scored two goals, apiece, while sophomore Erin Wheeler (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic), freshman Kayleigh Stalter ( Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook), junior Amanda Whelan (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa), and freshman Lauren Crotty (Long Beach, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) rounded out the scoring sheet for Scranton with a goal, apiece.

In net, senior Lauren Devlin (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) preserved the win, making three saves in over 46 minutes of action.

The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team will now be idle for at least a week, as the 2021 Landmark Conference playoffs open next Saturday across the conference with quarterfinal action.
