CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (4-0, 4-0 Landmark) won all three doubles matches to take an early lead and remained unbeaten with a 7-2 victory over the Catholic University Cardinals (4-2, 4-2 Landmark) at Birchwood Tennis Club on Saturday.
The duo of senior Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock)/sophomore Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) recorded an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while senior Tatiana Klacko (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and graduate student Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) swept the Cardinals' duo of Colleen McLaughlin/Grace Connell, 8-0 in No. 2 doubles. In No. 3 doubles play, senior Kristen Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) and junior Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) notched an 8-3 victory.
Nowak swept Abby Cassidy, 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets at No. 3 singles and Kelly got the best of McLaughlin, 6-2, 6-0 in No. 4 singles play. In No. 5 singles action, senior Lindsay Roberto (Princeton, N.J./Notre Dame) defeated Catholic's Hanna Scali in straight sets (6-2, 6-0) and Denniston defeated Olivia Sensenbrenner 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 6 singles flight.
The Royals will host Drew in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at the Royal Courts in Scranton. First serve is slated for 4:30 p.m.
