In their final match of the regular season, The University of Scranton women's tennis team swept doubles, then won four singles matches to take a 7-2 decision from Drew in Landmark Conference action at Royal Courts on Tuesday.

With the win, the Royals finish the regular year with a 6-1 overall and Landmark Conference record, The victory also sewed up the second seed in the upcoming Landmark playoffs for Scranton, which will begin with the quarterfinal round on Saturday at home.

The day kicked off on the right foot for the Royals with three straight victories in doubles to open a quick 3-0 lead on the Rangers.

In the second spot of the double line-up, graduate student Emily Kelly (West Chester, Pa./B, Reed Henderson) and senior Tatiana Klacko (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) were 8-3 winners, while at number three, senior Kristen Denniston (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) and junior Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) rolled to an 8-1 victory.

The doubles sweep was complete for the Royals when at number one, senior Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) and sophomore Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazelton Area) collected an 8-5 victory, giving Scranton a 3-0 lead in the process.

In singles, Denniston put the Royals up, 4-0, after a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the number five spot, while at number six, Loughlin clinched the victory for the Royals with a 6-1, 6-3 win.

The Royals rounded out the victory when Kelly captured a 6-3, 6-2 at number four singles, while Nowak finished the day for Scranton with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the number two spot.

The University of Scranton women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, when they host seventh-seeded Juniata at Royal Courts to open the Landmark playoffs. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
