SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team (0-2) won three of the six singles matches, but dropped a 6-3 decision to the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen (4-0) in a non-conference dual match on Wednesday afternoon at the Royal Courts in Scranton.
Lebanon Valley won all three doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead with the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches both going to a tiebreak that went in favor of the Dutchmen.
In No. 1 singles, senior James Harrington (West Chester, Pa./Malvern Prep) rolled to a straight set (6-4, 6-2) victory over LVC's Justin Schuetz and junior Patrick O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) was a winner at No. 3 singles for the Royals by virtue of taking a 6-2, 7-6 decision over Brendan Byler.
With the win, Harrington remains unbeaten in singles during his Scranton career at a perfect 13-0.
Freshman John Sinclair (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) rounded out the singles winners for the Royals with a three-set victory over Michael Scheutz at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.
The Royals close out the fall season this weekend at the King's Fall Invitational with play on both Saturday and Sunday slated to begin at 9 a.m.
