WINCHESTER, VA (November 19, 2022) -- The University of Scranton wrestling team fell on the road to Shenandoah and Averett in a pair of dual matches on Saturday afternoon.
First match (Shenandoah 31, Scranton 18):
- Sophomore Justin Schifter (Manalapan, N.J. / Manalapan) started things off strong for the Royals with a pin in 4:03 to earn six points for Scranton.
- At 157, junior Daniel Kosinski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Trinity) picked up a 12-10 decision win over Patrick Coffron.
- Senior Jeremiah Oakes (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton) followed up with a pin of his own at 165 in just 57 seconds on Jalen Cornelius.
- At 174, Graduate Student Will Laughlin (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) posted a 9-3 decision win over Dylan Weaver to give Scranton a one point lead over the Hornets.
- Shenandoah went on to win the final three duals to take the win over the Royals.
In the second match of the day, Scranton was defeated by Averett, 48-0.
The wrestling team returns to action on Saturday, December 3 at the Elizabethtown Invitational.
