Kingston, Pa. – Despite a pair of wins from junior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area), The University of Scranton women's tennis team fell to Wilkes, 7-2, in the team's spring opener on Saturday at TK Tennis Academy.
Nowak teamed with graduate student Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock) to post an 8-5 win at no. 1 doubles. She later went out and earned a hard-fought 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 victory at no. 2 singles.
Nowak is now 6-1 on the season in singles play and 19-3 for her career. In doubles play, she is also 19-3 for her career, including 7-1 this season.
The Royals, who are 3-2 overall, will be back in action when they open their spring break trip on Sunday, March 13, against Macalester in Orlando, Fla.
