Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team (1-4) dropped an 11-2 decision to the No. 3 Ithaca College Bombers (3-0) in non-conference action on Friday afternoon at Higgins Stadium in Ithaca.
Ithaca grabbed an early lead with four goals in the first quarter and a tally from Maizy Veitch early in the second stretched the lead to 5-0 at the 13:50 mark of the period. The Royals got on the board in the third quarter as sophomore Devyn Tanajewski (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) found the back of the net to cut the lead to 6-1, but Ithaca scored the next five goals to take control of the game.
Freshman Molly McCarren (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) added a late tally for Scranton off an assist from classmate Grace Lane (Long Beach, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy).
For Scranton, freshman Lauren Boldis (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) made 13 saves on the afternoon, while junior Caroline Miller (Huntington, N.Y./Elwood-John H. Glenn) collected three ground balls and senior Emily Schum (East Hanover, N.J./Morris Catholic) added two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Bombers were led by Veitch and Madison Boutureira who registered a hat trick apiece.
Ithaca held a 33-22 shot advantage as the Royals were led by four shots apiece from Tanajewski, freshman Allie Halfpenny (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) and senior Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.Y./Somerville).
The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday, March 19 at Mary Washington with action slated to get underway at 12 p.m.
