Men's Tennis Battles, but Drops Spring Break Opener to Dickinson, 7-2

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team (0-5) fought hard until the end, but fell short in a 7-2 loss to the Dickinson Red Devils (2-2) on Monday afternoon in Orlando.

Scranton led 1-0 after No. 1 doubles as the duo of senior James Harrington (West Chester, Pa./Malvern Prep) and junior Patrick O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) picked up an 8-7 (7-5) victory over the Red Devils' top doubles pairing. However, Dickinson took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take a 2- 1 head headed into singles play.

Harrington continued his winning ways in singles play and remains unbeaten (16-0) in his Royals career after a straight set (6-0, 6-1) victory over Dickinson's Garrick Adams.

The Royals dropped a heartbreaker in No. 4 singles play as freshman John Sinclair (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) dropped a 4-6, 6-7 (3-7) decision in the fourth singles flight.

The University of Scranton men's tennis team returns to action with a match versus University of the Sciences tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
