Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team fell behind early and were unable to force a come back in Saturday afternoon's Landmark Conference opener loss at Elizabethtown.
The Blue Jays came out on top in a 19-8 final over Scranton.
The Royals (3-4) trailed the Blue Jays (5-4) by four goals at the end of the first quarter as junior attackmen Matt Solleder (Ramsey, N.J. / Don Bosco Prep) scored both goals for Scranton in the opening period. Elizabethtown outscored the Royals 7-2 in the second period to take a 13-4 lead into halftime. Senior attackmen Cole Lukasiewicz (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) found the back of the net twice in the second quarter for Scranton.
The Blue Jays then scored four more goals in the third period to put away the game.
Scranton recieved one goal each from junior midfielder Chris Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge), junior attackmen Mitchell Kozak (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park Memorial), sophomore midfielder Alex Eglitis (Randolph, N.J. / Randolph) and sophomore attackmen Matthew McAree (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset).
Elizabethtown held a slight 17-14 edge in faceoffs while posting a 53-37 shot advantage over the Royals. Scranton went 12-22 on clear attempts and the Blue Jays recorded an impressive 17-21 success rate on clears.
Crapanzano led the way with four ground balls, while Eglitis, McAree, and Andrew Lord (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) all recorded three ground balls.
The Royals will return to action this Wednesday when they travel to Union, N.J. to take on Kean at 7:00 PM.
