HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sophomore attacker Kayleigh Stalter (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) scored four goals on Saturday, but The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team lost to Haverford, 15-12, at Swan Field.

The Royals (1-3) used a three-goal run in the span of 1:19 midway through the fourth period – capped by Stalter's fourth tally of the game – to tie the score at 12. But Haverford (2-0) scored the game's final three goals to secure the victory.

Junior defender Caroline Miller (Huntington, N.Y./Ellwood-John H. Glenn) had two goals and an assist, and freshman attacker Grace Lane (Long Beach, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) finished with two goals for Scranton. Sophomore attacker Erin Reich (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) had a goal and an assist and senior attacker Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) rounded out the scoring for the Royals with a goal.

Miller finished with nine draw controls to help the Royals to a 19-11 edge. Senior midfielder Jaclyn McCusker (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) added four draw controls. Scranton won the ground ball battle, 19-17, led by sophomore defender Nicolina Mauro (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side), who had a game-high six ground balls.

Haverford outshot Scranton, 36-30, and forced the Royals into 21 turnovers. Scranton was 14-for-19 on clear attempts and 4-for-8 on free position shots. Haverford went 16-for-23 in clear attempts and 4-for-12 in free position shots.

Scranton will return to action on Saturday, March 12, when the Royals travel to Ithaca with the opening faceoff scheduled for 12 p.m.
