Men's Tennis Dominates ETown in Landmark Opener, 9-0

SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team (1-8, 1-0 Landmark) won all six singles matches in straight sets and rolled to a 9-0 victory over Elizabethtown (0-4, 0-2 Landmark) in the opening match of Landmark Conference play on Saturday at the Royal Courts in Scranton.

In doubles play, the senior duo of James Harrington (West Chester, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Patrick O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) picked up an 8-3 victory at the first doubles flight, while fellow senior Sal Sullivan (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) and junior Steven Prosperino (Brewster, N.Y./North Salem Central) notched an 8-3 win of their own at the second doubles flight. At No. 3 doubles, senior Wes Jacaruso (Congers, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep) and freshman John Sinclair (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) took home an 8-2 decision.

Both Harrington and O'Mara registered a sweep (6-0, 6-0) of their respective opponents at No. 1 and 2 singles to go along with a 7-5, 6-3 victory from Sinclair over the Blue Jays' John Hanson in No. 3 singles.

Prosperino added a 6-3, 6-1 win against Sam Langer in No. 4 singles and Sullivan was a 6-2, 6-1 winner in No. 5 singles play. Jacaruso became the third Royal to notch a clean sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over ETown's Yusuke Satani.

The Royals are back in action on Monday afternoon at King's with first serve set for 3:30 p.m.
