Box Score MADISON, NJ (April 20, 2022) --- The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team defeated Drew University on Wednesday night, as four different Royals scored hat tricks in a convincing 21-7 win at Ranger Stadium.
The Royals got rolling early as the offensive trio of Chris Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge), Mitchell Kozak (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park Memorial), and Matthew McAree (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) scored the first three goals of the game to give Scranton an early lead. Following a goal from the Rangers, Crapanzano scored another goal to give his side a 4-1 lead headed into the second period.
Drew cut the lead down to one after scoring a pair of goals to start the second quarter, but Scranton answered as Crapanzano, Kozak, and McAree scored three straight goals again to regain the three goal cushion. Kozak and Crapazano each complete their hat tricks in the late stages of the first half as Scranton held a 10-5 lead headed into the third period.
The Royals dominated the third quarter as they scored five unanswered goals and took a 10 goal lead into the final period.
Scranton continued to add to its tally in the fourth quarter, as it outscored the Rangers 6-2 to secure a 21-7 Landmark victory in Madison, NJ.
Kozak led the way with a game-high five goals and added one assist, while McAree finished with a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists. Crapanzano recorded four goals while junior Dillon Malyniak (Commack, N.Y. / Commack) notched the first hat trick of his career at Scranton. Freshman goalkeeper Evan Rosa (Weehawken, N.J. / Pennington School) shined again in goal for the Royals, making 16 saves on 23 shots faced.
The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team returns to action this Saturday when they host Moravian University at 1:00 PM at Weiss Field. Prior to the game we will honor the graduating members of the team.
