Women's Tennis Drops Landmark Road Match at Drew

MADISON, N.J. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (7-5, 1-1 Landmark) fought hard until the end, but dropped a tough 7-2 decision to the Drew University Rangers (8-8, 5-0 Landmark) on Wednesday at the Drew Tennis Complex in Madison.

Scranton trailed 2-1 after doubles play as the duo of junior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) and sophomore Maddy Tratthen (Olyphant, Pa./Scranton Prep) posted an 8-1 victory in No. 2 doubles over Drew's Sanne Bloemendaal/Kate Gangi.

Nowak dropped a three-set heartbreaker (6-7, 6-2, 3-10) to the Rangers' Melina Christodoulou in No. 1 singles play, while sophomore Maddy Abood (Plainfield, N.J./Union Catholic) notched a straight set 7-5, 6-4 victory against Elise Parisi at No. 6 singles.

The Royals return home to host Catholic and Goucher in a pair of key Landmark matches this weekend with first serve on both Saturday and Sunday at Royal Courts slated for 1 p.m.
