SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (8-6, 2-2 Landmark) held an early lead after doubles play, but dropped a 6-3 decision to the Goucher Gophers (8-9, 5-1 Landmark) on Sunday afternoon at the Royal Courts in Scranton.

The duo of graduate student Marissa Campo (Green Lane, Pa./Christopher Dock)/senior Claire Loughlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) notched an 8-6 victory in No. 1 doubles, while junior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) and sophomore Maddy Tratthen (Olyphant, Pa./Scranton Prep) picked up an 8-5 win in No. 2 doubles action for the early 2-1 lead.

Nowak also notched a singles victory at the second singles flight with a straight set (6-1, 6-2) over the Gophers' Ceri McCaffrey to improve to 13-3 on the year in singles matches.

With three regular season matches remaining, Scranton currently occupies the fourth and final playoff spot in the Landmark Conference standings.

The Royals return to the courts on Tuesday afternoon at Susquehanna with first serve in Selinsgrove slated for 4 p.m.
