Mike Finley of Men's Swimming & Diving Earns Landmark Athlete of the Week Accolades

Freshman Mike Finley (New Milford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) of The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team broke his own program record in the 100 back in Saturday's dual meet victory over Drew and has been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

This marks the first career Landmark AOTW selection for Finley and the second in three weeks for the Royals after senior Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) earned the honor on Jan. 17.

Finley won both the 100 and 200 back and also helped lead the Royals to a victory in the 200 medley relay in the 160.5-123.5 win over Drew. The New Milford, N.J., native broke his own program record in the 100 back as he touched the wall in 52.66 seconds, surpassing his previous record time of 52.78 from the Gettysburg Invite earlier this season,

In the 200 back, Finley won the event in a time of 1:58.79 and he swam the first leg of the 200 medley relay as the Royals broke a pool record in 1:35.91.

The Royals will return to the pool on Feb. 17 for Day One of the Landmark Conference Championships in Germantown, Md.
