SCRANTON, PA (January 31, 2023) -- The University of Scranton wrestling team fought hard in a 24-16 setback to Delaware Valley on Tuesday night in the John Long Center.

With the loss, the Royals move to 5-8 on the season in dual matches. 

Delaware Valley 24, Scranton 16

• Sophomore Justin Schifter (Manalapan, N.J. / Manalapan) got Scranton off to a strong start with a first period pin over Shane Holefelder at 125.
• At 141, Shkeb Nadir (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton) earned a 12-2 major decision win over Malachi Harvey to put Scranton up 10-5. 
• After three consecutive wins for the Aggies, senior Will Laughlin (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) brought the Royals within two points with a 2-1 decision win at 174.
• Senior Ryan Bihasa Lenahan (Floral Park, N.Y. / Chaminade) followed up with an 11-7 decision win over Jake Nase to give Scranton a 16-15 lead with two bouts remaining. 
• The Aggies went on to win the final two bouts and defeat the Royals 24-16.

The wrestling team will return to action this Sunday when they host Wilkes in the John Long Center at 1:00 PM.
