Box Score SALISBURY, MD (February 18, 2023) -- The No. 2 ranked Salisbury men's lacrosse team used a strong second quarter to defeat The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team 25-10 on Saturday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Christopher Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) led the Royals with five goals and 10 ground balls on the day.
Crapanzano got Scranton on the board first with a goal off the opening faceoff in the first 10 seconds of action. The Sea Gulls responded with four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the opening period. Salisbury held a 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Sea Gulls outscored the Royals 8-0 in the second quarter and took a 15-3 lead into halftime.
Crapanzano came out firing to start the second half as he scored back-to-back goals for Scranton to cut Salisbury's lead to 10. The Sea Gulls answered with a three goal run of their own just minutes later and outscored the Royals 7-4 in the period to take a 22-8 lead headed into the fourth quarter.
Scranton added a pair of goals to its tally in the fourth quarter but dropped the contest in a 25-10 final.
Senior Mitchell Kozak (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park Memorial) finished the game with three goals on eight shots for the Royals while senior Colin Pierce (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) posted a team-high three caused turnovers on the defensive end.
The men's lacrosse team returns to action next Saturday when they head to Montclair St. for a 12:00 PM non-conference matchup.
