ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton wrestling team competed on Day One of the NCAA Mideast Regionals that were hosted by Ithaca College on Friday at the Athletics and Events Center.
Following day one, the Royals are tied for 19th in the team standings with 4.5 points.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Friday.
- At 157 pounds, junior Daniel Kosinski (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) won his first match of the day with a 12-5 decision against Cullen van Rooyen of Penn College before dropping a bout to Wenchard Pierre-Louis of Ithaca.
- In 165 pound action, senior Jeremiah Oakes (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) pinned Alfred State's Cale Bartosch in 355 to begin his day but then dropped a tough 7-3 decision to RIT's Austin Lamb.
- In the heavyweight bracket, fellow senior Jose Falcon (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) recorded a 2-1 victory against Alfred State's Evan Albrecht before falling to SUNY Oneonta's Jake Pine to round out his day.
Action on Day Two of the NCAA Mideast Regionals will resume on Saturday at 11 a.m.
