HAVERFORD, PA (March 14, 2023) -- Sophomore Grace Lane (Long Beach, N.Y. / Sacred Heart Academy) posted a career-high eight points on six goals and two assists, but The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team was defeated 16-12 in non-conference action at Haverford on Tuesday afternoon.

Lane got things going early as she scored a hattrick in the first period to pace the Royals as they held a 6-4 lead headed into the second quarter.

Haverford took control to start the second period, scoring four consecutive goals to take a 8-6 lead with just over nine minutes remaining in the opening half. Lane got the Royals going again as she scored her second free position goal of the game. Junior Kayleigh Stalter (Lynbrook, N.Y. / Lynbrook) then tied the game up at 8-8 off an assist from fellow classmate Devyn Tanajewski (Ringwood, N.J. / Lakeland Regional) at the 5:56 mark. 

The Fords closed out the first half with three goals in a row to take an 11-8 lead headed into the break.

After a quiet start to the second half, the Royals scored three goals in the final six minutes of the third peirod to cut Haverford's lead to just one headed into the fourth quarter. Haverford scored four unanswered goals in the fourth period as they went on to defeat Scranton 16-12. 

Lane's six goals were a game-high and career-high while Tanajewski recorded a game-high eight draw controls for the Royals.

The women's lacrosse team returns to action this Saturday when they host St. John Fisher at Weiss Field at 1:00 PM.
