ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (4-5) dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker to the Westminster (Pa.) Titans (13-5) in the final match of the team's Spring Break trip to Orlando on Friday afternoon.
In doubles play, the duo of senior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area)/sophomore Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) notched an 8-7 victory at No. 1 as they took the tiebreaker 7-0, but Westminster captured wins at both the second and third doubles flight.
Nowak capped off an unbeaten week in singles play for herself with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Gia Francisco and Wisniewski rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 victory against Emma Sukal at the second singles flight.
Freshman Olivia Sirico (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) also won her match at No. 4 singles for Scranton with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Sabrina Slagle.
The Royals will return home and host Susquehanna to begin Landmark Conference play on Saturday, Mar. 25 with first serve slated for 1 p.m.
