Box Score SCRANTON, PA (March 25, 2023) -- Senior Christopher Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) and junior Matthew McAree (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) each reached the 100 point milestone on Saturday as The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team earned a dominant 25-4 win over Juniata at Weiss Field.
With the win, the Royals advance to 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
Scranton blanked Juniata in the opening period and scored 14 unanswered goals before the Eagles finally got on the board in the final minutes of the first half. Crapanzano and junior Joe Boyle (Huntington, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) each scored hat tricks in the opening half.
The Royals scored five straight goals to begin the second half and added another five goal stretch to close out the game in a commanding 25-4 win over Juniata.
Crapanzano led all scorers with six goals on the day while Boyle set a new career high with nine points on four goals and five assists. With 7:43 remaining in the fourth quarter, freshman Aidan Gessner (Paramus, N.J. / Bergen Catholic) scored the first goal of his career for Scranton.
Freshmen Declan Allen (Garden City, N.Y. / Millbrook) and Jake Dagata (East Moriches, N.Y. / Westhampton Beach) and sophomore Sam Oross (Scotch Plains, N.J. / Scotch Plains-Fanwood) all saw time in net for the Royals and combined for eight saves.
The men's lacrosse team is back in action at Weiss Field on Wednesday when they host Utica at 4:00 PM.
