SCRANTON, Pa. -- The University of Scranton women's tennis team (6-5, 2-0 Landmark) defeated the Juniata Eagles (0-5, 0-2 Landmark) by a score of 9-0 at the Royal Courts on Sunday afternoon.
In doubles play, senior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) and sophomore Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) earned an 8-2 win at the first flight, while sophomore Julia Nocentino (Mantua, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and junior Lydia Grossman (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) secured an 8-3 win in No. 2 doubles.
At first singles, Nowak defeated Maggie Ackley in a single set, 8-0. Wisniewski recorded a 8-0 victory in second singles against Marta Celebic, while O'Mara earned an 8-0 victory over Juniata's third singles player, Immy Ramsdale.
At fourth singles, freshman Olivia Sirico (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) won 8-4 and sophomore Taralyn Reilly (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) recorded a straight-set win (6-0, 6-0) over Laura Julien at fifth singles. Juniata then forfeited the sixth singles match.
The Royals will return to the court in Washington, D.C. against Catholic on Saturday at 1 p.m.
